Potato (Story with moral)

erm.. this is my first posting on stories with morals... next time, when i would post more stories, i would just put the title, bracket story
e.g potato(story)

to cut short it and save myself some time.. hahaha.. all these stories are what i have heard and not created.. so i would cite as well as i can in order to avoid plagiarism..

so here goes the first story

A teacher wanted to teach her students about a moral lesson.. so she told them to bring a bag of potatoes for tomorrow's class.. tomorrow came, and every student in her class brought a bag of potatoes... and the teacher said.. " i want you all to be bringing the same bag of potatoes for another 1 week"

and so a week passed and finally the teacher ask the students to bring out the potatoes that they had been carrying for a week. the teacher asked "so, how do you feel, carrying the same potatoes for a week?"

the students started to grumble and complain..
"it was sooo heavy"
"it was smelly and uneasy carrying it along"
along with other complaints as well.. and so the teacher said
"this is how you would feel if you have hatred and anger in your heart.
your heart will feel heavy, and in time, it will turn smelly, just like the potatoes.
it would be an uneasy task to carry it along because it would feel so heavy and it does not bring you any good. That is what I am trying to teach you guys.. about FORGIVENESS.
when you forgive someone, you let go of the bad feelings that is tying you down.
You feel free, light and happy.."
But of course, lets face it.. to forgive someone is not as easy as throwing the potatoes away.. it needs the courage to realize that you have been hurt and would continue being hurt in the future. it definitely is a veeeeeeery tough thing to do... i don't claim that i can do it.. everyone's struggling including myself.. but the only person who can make a change is none other than YOURSELF... if you think you can do it.. then you would try, and succeed. If you start by saying you can't forgive him/her, you already failed because the process of forgiveness didn't even started.
"Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
Luke6:37
So, go out and start forgiving.. start to live a life where you are not tied down to hatred and anger..
The story was told during Youth Parish Renewal(YRE) in my parish.
Have a nice day
God Bless
