The Golden Rule to Failure

Is to please everyone.. don't get it?? let me repeat..

THE GOLDEN RULE TO FAILURE IS TO PLEASE EVERYONE.
Get it? well by now u might be wondering.. huh? isn't it good to please everyone? well before i get into that, i would like to share how i found this quote. i was in secondary school and my school is filled with all these inspirational (sorry if i misspelt it) quotes. While coming out from the school disciplinary room, i came across the quote above.. and i thought to myself too.. huh? y is pleasing everyone bad? and y is it the golden rule to failure?
so at first, i scoffed at it and said it's bullshit.. but as time passes, i realize that it is true. it is quite impossible to try and please everyone at the same time. of course it's good to please everyone, but there's a limit.. do not be a pleasa-holic till you lose your self identity. keep that in mind.
now unless you are living in a fairy tale world, you can't really please everybody.. i'll give an example to illustrate this
a friend's birthday is coming.. and you bought a present for him/her.. another friend of yours whom the birthday has passed gets jealous.. y? because he/she did not get any present from you.. well of course you don't mean to treat them unfairly.. maybe you forgotten, or maybe you are busy or maybe you just didn't buy for whatever reason it might be.. you don't mean bad to that person, but u have hurt him/her. so it's not really that u MEAN to hurt, but incidents like this just happens.
get the picture now? so sometimes, it happens indirectly.. it isn't really possible to satisfy everyone's needs, well unless you have the ability to read minds. See how the principle applies now? so in situations like this, what do u do? well stand firm on your ground. but of course, i don't mean that u cut off your friendship, just don't don't lose your self identity in the process of pleasing people.. people like people for who they are, and not because they are please-holics.
another very very bad situation is to get stuck in a middle of a battle where both parties are your loved ones. example, a husband stuck in between his mother and his wife's argument. both are his loved ones. who do he defends, who do he take sides? one party is saying the other party's bad things, which really sucks.. in situations like this, what do you do? well, unfortunately, i don't have an answer for that. looks like you just have to go through it and experience it for yourselves to find the solutions. haha.
