Kids Say The Darnest Things

Today i went to KLCC to watch National Treasure 2: The Book of Secrets

it was quite a wonderful story, some actions, some humour, not too bad.. i enjoyed it.. hahaha..

but what i wanted to blog here is not about that.. instead, it's what happened on my journey there..

i took a bus to KLCC, and during the trip, the bus stopped at Bandar Baru Ampang school

then one young boy, around age 5 came in with his mother.. from the time the boy came in, he has been talking non stop... keep on talking only.. then talk talk to his mum and then his mum asked him

Mum: so if the school bell rings, what does it mean?

Boy: it means..... it means.... start teaching or go back

Mum: Yes.. it means either the start or the end of class.

then the boy kept talking and then he shifted place and was sitted two places beside me.. then he kept on talking

Boy: Mummy... i like Christmas, cause got present.. I don't like..... Hari Raya

XD.. when i heard that.. i was already secretly laughing and thinking to myself..

wah sai.. u got guts to say that boy (inside the bus got few malays some more, and he speaks quite loudly) hahaha..

Patience

We as humans really need to be patient at certain things.. certain things cannot be rushed and once rushed, it will ruin the process

Annie Dillard shares her story of proper waiting:

She has been watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon and was facinated by the process until she grew impatient of how long the process was taking. She took the liberty to speed up the process by taking a candle and heat up the cocoon, albeit very gently.

Her experiment was a success, the butterfly emerged more quickly. But the butterflly was born with weak wings, because it came out too soon. It cannot fly and thus "haste and prematurity had stunted and deformed a natural process. Some things cannot be rushed" (Dillard, cited in Rolheiser, 2007 p. 12)

And that was exactly the message.. some things cannot be rushed, such as BGR (boy-girl relationship :P)

some people rush to get into a relationship and even some thinks that sex will fasten or secure the relationship... how wrong could it be.. it will never fasten the relationship, it will never strenghten the relationship.. rather, just like the weak butterfly, it will only lead to immaturity and will disrubt a natural process..

so don't rush into a relationship, and when in a relationship, don't rush your relationship... it will grow mature with time

Love is beautiful, but it cannot feed the stomach

Not Just Vanity

Today i read The Star and came across an interesting article...

Quoting it

"It's one of the world's great mysteries, as puzzling as the possible existence of intelligent life on other planets and the whereabouts of Lord Lucan. Why exactly does it take women so long to get ready for a night out?" (The Star, Star 2, p. 10)

I don't know who Lord Lucan is btw.. hehe

Why do women take so long to get ready.. hmm.. interesting no?

"Recently, it was revealed that the average female spends three years getting ready to leave the house." (The Star, Star 2, p. 10)

"Research found that the average woman takes one hour and 12 minutes to prepare herself for a big night out - that's 22 minutes showering and removing unwanted hair, seven minutes applying moisturiser and fake tan, 23 minutes doing her hair, 14 minutes applying make-up and six minutes putting her clothes on." (The Star, Star 2, p. 10)

"On top of that, the typical woman spends another 40 minutes a day getting ready for work, and three months of her life choosing handbags and the ideal pair of shoes to wear." (The Star, Star 2, p. 10)

hmm.... to sum it up, women would take (or need for that matter) a long time to be prepared.. maybe not all women but at large..

and the writer says that it's not just about vanity... it's not just about looking good.. it's about feeling good.

that got me thinking... well, she's right, it's not about only looking good, it's also about feeling good... u can look good but don't feel good about yourself...

but what i don't understand is this... why do women need such a long time to feel good?

anyone care to enlighten me about it?

God Bless~

Dream

Freud says that dreams are the royal road to the unconscious

I have lots of dreams and the good thing is that i can remember them nicely

this afternoon, i took a nap and i dreamt about me driving a Kancil with my dad sitting beside me. The strange thing is that the stering wheel is on the left hand side (like a foreign car) instead of being on the right hand side..

and the journey was kinda dangerous.. i was driving and then the next thing i remember, i was cycling on a bicycle and my dad was walking... i wanted to cycled straight, but my dad said go left..

so i turned left and this boy who is cycling as well overtook me and here is the cool part

He overtook me, jumped through a kithchen window (i think) and ride his bicycle on top of glasses (glasses as in cups) and then landed safely on the groud o.O

the glasses didn't break.. when i turned left, it was a dead end, except jumping through the window as the boy did. so i jumped as well, ride on the glasses as well, but then the glasses and the things on the table fell.. hahaha..

but i wasn't injured or anything la.. just that the things fell.. nothing much after that i suppose.. XD

my unconsious motives? i don't know.. Freudians out there or any dream intepreter.. u may decode my dream.. hahaha..

i will be constantly posting up my dreams from now on (if i deem the dream fasinating :p)

Bible Knowledge

I was being asked to testify and to encourage future SPM students to take up Bible Knowledge as an additional subject. Asked by whom? by my Bible Knowledge teacher and she said i will be giving my talk around new year..

o.O

Speech... in front of everyone.. let's see.. i would have to talk about it for 2 times, Sunset mass and Sunday mass.. so i would be talking in front of approximately 2000 people.. =.=;

oh nevermind.. i was wanting to do that anyway.. :p

Making the speech was not that hard.. because it is very much like a reflective writing.. i think back about what i have done and tell them why they should take it up..

thinking back about my Bible Knowledge experience brought back memories of the National Bible Quiz.. and i really love that day..

the National Bible Knowledge Quiz gathers students from all over Malaysia.. I participated in it and i got to see 'Bible scholars' from all around Malaysia attending the quiz... what a sight to behold.. the quiz was held at the hmmm... Petaling Girls School (or something of that sort la, it's a girls school in PJ) the school was awesome. it was clean and beautiful... i was so afraid that it doesn't have guys toilet (except those prepared for staffs) but good thing, there is.. hehehe

It was during the quiz that i realize how little i know about this subject. my partner and i (it is a group participation) was eliminated in the first round.. so sad.. hahaha.. but the other students were sooooo good..

they can kinda memorize the whole 2 books of what we are covering.. o.O awesome.. that time i was in form 5. and if u are in form 6, u can still participate in it, but u can't if u are in college.. form 6 is individual participation and i have thought of entering form 6 just to participate in the quiz..

That was one of the memorable experience i had... isn't it great if i can experience it again? but well it's over and done with.. so let's encourage the new generation so that they don't miss out in it..

God Bless~

Mandarin Oriental

22nd Dec 2007

Today is the day of my grandaunt's son's marriage and they prepared dinner at Mandarin Oriental (where the putonghua's live =.=;)

Went there and there is an awful (i don't know how to spell it) number of people there.. i mean outside the ball room.. it's like when the lift opens, and we walk out, everyone was already there... a lot of people.. lingering around.. hehehe

then beneath our floor, is a group of carollers and it was kinda nice hearing them sing.. Mandarin Oriental is a very nice place, but well how could it not be right?? it's just beside KLCC, got reputation.. hahaha..

the food was okay, there was a dance floor in the ball room and that made me remember some moments in C'est Magnifique.

oh oh.. the bridegroom's name is Nic and the bride's name is Sue.. their encounter was somewhat like in movies.. hehe.. here goes

Nic was slashed by snatch thief and was sent to the hospital.. then Sue was there to visit her friend, which is beside Nic's bed.. and that's how they met..

but seriously, how often do we say hi to our neighbours in ward? let alone saying 'hi' to neighbour's friend? hmm.. don't know....

the painting in the ball room is wonderful, and after dinner, we went to the parking, but then there is an awful queue to get out.. like 4 levels of jam.. (they got only one toll to go out).. and as i have mentioned, there is a lot of people that night attending the dinner itself, not including other people from other ball rooms..

so we went back up and walked around the hotel lor.. and guess who we met?

Sultan of Selangor.. well.. i don't really know or recognize him at first.. but my dad was like

"you saw who is that?"

me and my sis were like "who?"

"sultan of Selangor la.. he went into the toilet"

ooooo i see.. me and my sis don't know.. :p but then he came out afterwards and my dad shook hand with him.. me just stand there.. hehehe

He Died

Today i went to watch movie..

Ah.. finally i got an opportunity to watch movie.... after several months of movie deprived. Today i watched.. jeng jeng jeng...

Mr. Mogorium's Wonder Emporium

Mr. Mog what?? Mogorium la.. haha..

Went to klcc to watched it and one thing Mr. Mogorium said was kinda worth reflecting. Mr. Mogorium, the owner of the splendid toy shop was going to die.. and his apprentice is very sad about it

and Mr. Mogorium said this... or maybe something like this.. haha..(memory not too good)

We should concentrate on the things prior to death and not death itself

Oh.. that is so not what he said.. but he is implying that la.. hahaha.. and that got me thinking

Why would people be afraid of death? The general idea is that people are afraid of the unknown, and since people only die once, death is something unknown to people, and that is why they are afraid.

I read a book once where in it, one of the character presented an idea on why people like to drink what they like to drink and eat what they like to eat.

People do that because they know the taste of their food, and this familiarity gives them a sense of control in life. That is why there are people (like me) who likes to go back to the same stall to eat, eventhough there might be better stalls out there... people (or me at least) are sceptical about trying new thing, things they don't know, things they are not familiar with, the unknown.

And that got me thinking a bit further. Does people who are trying to live forever wants to live forever because they want a sense of control over their lives?

to me, i think death is a wonderful thing. i think la.. hahaha.. I wonder where will i be after i die? Is there a soul? Heaven? Aliens? hahaha.. of course i believe in heaven, but if u ask me how sure am i, i can't answer that.. that's y it's called FAITH and not SCIENCE.

Mr. Mogorium also said this "A 37 seconds life lived to the full, is a live worth living"

God Bless~
